As part of its work on the collective right management directive SAA has published a short booklet looking at how collective rights management organisations work and the rules that apply in different European countries for royalty distributions.

Recommendations risk undermining the private copying system as a whole by persistently favouring device manufacturers and importers while having devastating effects on weaker parties, such as audiovisual authors, and consumers.

So far, 5,000 directors, writers, technicians, producers, distributors, exhibitors across Europe have already expressed their concern about the cultural exception being called into question.
