Who is an audiovisual author?
The individual creators of an audiovisual work are considered to be its authors. Some legislations specify individuals who should be considered audiovisual authors (usually the director, screenwriter and composer of music) whilst others remain open to any collaborator who can demonstrate an original creative contribution.

Short and feature films, television programmes, documentaries, and similar works that are original creations expressed by means of a series of moving images, with or without sound, and intended to be shown by any other means of communication to the public, are collectively referred to as audiovisual works and protected by intellectual property rights.
There is currently no harmonisation of authorship in audiovisual works in Europe.
