SAA calls for clarity in intellectual property rights enforcement consultation response

SAA has submitted its response to the European Commission’s consultation on intellectual property rights (IPR) enforcement. The contribution focuses on the general problems which have arisen from the implementation of the 2004 Directive on IPR enforcement, in particular in the digital online environment.

It calls for 3 main actions:

  • improved notification procedures that enable illegal content to be taken down,
  • increased education and awareness raising initiatives and
  • the need for a fair balance between IPR protection and privacy protection.
