Joint letter: Support for culture in the EU Recovery & Resilience Facility

The SAA, together with 20 other organisations from across the cultural and creative sector have sent a letter to Members of the European Parliament asking them to support culture in the Recovery and Resilience Facility.

The signatories highlight a number of amendments tabled on the draft Report on a Recovery and Resilience Facility that call for the EU and Member States to invest in the cultural and creative sector as part of the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility, and for the sector to be explicitly referred to in the scope of application of the Facility.

They are in line with the European Parliament’s recent call, in its Resolution on the cultural recovery of Europe, for at least 2% of the Recovery and Resilience Facility to be earmarked for the cultural and creative sector.

The cultural and creative sector has been one of the first and hardest hit by the crisis, as the Commission has recently acknowledged, and it now needs the EU’s support for its recovery.
