Experts' top advice on fair remuneration for screenwriters and directors: implementing Article 18 of the EU Copyright Directive

On 20 May, the SAA partnered with the International Authors Forum and Writers & Directors Worldwide for a webinar about the right to remuneration. 

On 17 March 2021, performers, audiovisual authors and their representative organisations came together to discuss the role of collective management to secure remuneration, its increased part of the digital environment and the implementation of Article 18 of the new Copyright Directive. 

On 25 November the SAA organised an online event with testimonies from filmmakers about the struggles they face in the pandemic era and with reactions from the European Parliament, Member States representatives and experts.

The SAA's 6th edition of the “One Day in Strasbourg” took place on the 26 November. In addition to SAA members meeting their MEPs during the day, we hosted a dinner together with the European Parliament's LUX Film Prize, in partnership with FERA and FSE. We celebrated European cinema, cultural diversity and freedom of expression with the LUX Film Prize finalists.
