SAA speaks at European Parliament Legal Affairs Committee
Janine Lorente, the chair of the SAA board of directors presented SAA’s position on the collective rights management directive proposal on 18 March.
Mrs Lorente underlined the differences between the use of collective management in the audiovisual and music sectors to the EP's legal affairs committee. She also called for recognition of the collective nature of CMOs, the need for clear and simple rules and a level playing field for rights’ management.
Mrs Gallo, the rapporteur for the Legal Affairs committee will present her draft report at the end of May while opinion committees (Culture, Internal Market, Industry and International Trade) will present their draft opinions mid-April.
