2019: One Day in Strasbourg

“One Day in Strasbourg” is a very successful event and partnership that has taken place six years in a row. The SAA members get the opportunity to meet their MEPs during one full day in Strasbourg. In the evening, the SAA hosts a dinner with the European Parliament's LUX Film Prize, in partnership with the Federation of European Film Directors and the Federation of Screenwriters in Europe.The SAA, its members, filmmakers and Members of the European Parliament we celebrated European cinema and cultural diversity.

In 2019, we celebrated European cinema and cultural diversity together with 16 newly elected MEPs in the presence of Oleg Sentsov, Ukrainian filmmaker and former political prisoner, the finalists of the LUX Prize (Teona Strugar Mitevska, director of God Exists, Her Name is Petrunya, Mads Brügger, director of Cold Case Hammarskjöld, Gerardo Herrero, producer of The Realm and Antonio De La Torre, lead actor) and other filmmakers from Croatia, France, Slovenia and Spain. Klára Dobrev, EP Vice-President, held a speech about  the  importance  of  strengthening  the European identity by the means of culture and films, and Teona Strugar Mitevska, the LUX Prize winner, spoke  about  realising  the  value  of  freedom  of  expression  when having it taken away from you.
