The UK public consultation on copyright and AI

In December 2024, the UK government opened a consultation on copyright and AI, in order to gather information from stakeholders “to deliver a copyright and AI framework that rewards human creativity, incentivises innovation and provides the legal certainty required for long-term growth in both sectors”.
In its response, the SAA prioritised the interest of audiovisual authors in being granted an appropriate and proportionate remuneration, that would be managed by collective management organisations for optimal distribution of the revenues. The response also discussed technological standards, transparency requirements, and other emerging issues in the field.
